Sumaiyah Bashir
Part II Architectural Assistant

Sumaiyah joined the team after completing her masters in architecture at the University of Sheffield. Prior to this Sumaiyah completed her undergraduate degree in Architecture at the University of Liverpool and was awarded the AHMM Urban Heritage and Design Award for her final year project.

Her experience so far has taken her across a varied array of projects, from working on a volcano museum in the Caribbean, a cheese factory in Rwanda, to high-end residential architecture in London, where she worked on homes designed to Passivhaus standards.

Sumaiyah also has an interest in humanitarian architecture, including being part of a team that designed and built a zero-carbon bamboo pavilion for King Charles’ charity, INTBAU, which promotes better places to live for local communities.

These experiences have given her a broad perspective on architecture and a real appreciation for how design can respond to people, place and the environment.

Outside of architecture, Sumaiyah enjoys climbing, hiking and baking, is currently attempting to learn Swahili. Sumaiyah is also a classic Mini owner.
