S+SA offers a full architectural service from concept design to hand-over. We believe that continuous collaboration throughout the design process, within the design studio and with clients, consultants, specialists and project stakeholders, is the key to the success of all our projects.
As a Practice, we cover a broad range of architectural sectors and building typologies. Our philosophy is that our designs need to react, adapt and respond to the needs of the client whilst using the surrounding context as a driving factor within the design process.
We aim not to sign up to design typologies, style or formula, instead we prefer to respond to context and the client’s needs and aspirations with a huge focus on quality in all aspects of design. This is replicated throughout the buildings we produce.
Our services include masterplanning, 3D visualisation, urban planning, fee advice, feasibility studies and counsel on building regulations and the latest legislation. We work closely with fellow professionals in planning, structural engineering and quantity surveying to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to your project.
S+SA Architects offer a personal level of service whether we are working on national large-scale projects or local projects closer to home. We endeavour to create long-lasting partnerships with all of our clients, so they know they can rely on us to provide the service they need.
Joel Smith is a Director of S+SA Architects and has over 17 years’ experience of residential, commercial and retail design. Joel heads up our residential arm of the practice where he can utilise his creative flair on anything from bespoke one-off luxury homes through to large scale housing developments.
Joel has led and developed many innovative and complex schemes working closely with clients to achieve a high quality finish and ensuring their project aspirations are achieved. Joel maintains a strong emphasis on client liaison, ensuring that his clients receive a high level of professionalism throughout their projects.
Joel’s expanding portfolio includes the design of both educational and sporting facilities, the commercial development of offices and retail schemes (both large and small-scale). Joel has also worked on many healthcare facilities including the refurbishment of acute mental healthcare units as the company looks to reaffirm its position in the public sectors.
Outside work, Joel enjoys clocking up the miles on his road bike and spending time with his young family.
