The Nottingham Building Society Head Office,
Nottingham

Project Overview

Project: Design of new three storey extension, circulation and internal accommodation.
Client: The Nottingham Building Society
Size: 100m2 / 11,000 sq ft approx.
Status: Completed

Practical Completion was achieved in Spring 2017 for an S+SA Architects Limited commission by the Nottingham Building Society for the expansion of their Head Office in central Nottingham.

The design solution had to reconcile the differential floor levels between the new and existing office accommodation, effectively unifying what had previously been two separate buildings.

Various options were explored and ultimately a very simple solution, to create a new intervention outside the existing envelope, was chosen.

An understated contemporary approach was adopted for a new three-storey extension, which included new reception and waiting areas, breakout spaces for less formal meetings plus vertical circulation dealing with the differential floor levels.
